Introduction

Beckenham is a small town which is situated within London Borough, Bromley in England. Beckenham was initially referred to as Bacheham however the name Beckenham derives from Beohha's Homestead or Farmhouse which is also known as Beohhan-ham in Old English. The Beck River that flows through this area is named after Beckenham. This town has remained a substantial town until the introduction of railways and also the Crystal Palace. John Cator the person behind transforming a small village into a significant town in the 17th century. ST George Church that is located at the heart of Beckenham possesses a 13th century lichgate which is said to be one of the oldest lichgates in England.

Beckenham also has some important places which are quite famous such as Chinese Garage, Kelsey Park, South Norwood Country Park, Croydon Road Recreation Ground, Beckenham Place Park, St George's Parish Church and Beckenham Crematorium.

South Norwood Country Park

South Norwood Country Park is situated close to the Elmer's End Railway Station in South Norwood in the Borough of Croydon. Spread over 50 hectares of green space this park was opened in the year 1989. This area was previously used for sewage farms providing the developing population of London. The Croydon Sports Arena which the home for Croydon Football Club is situated on the southern edge of this park. There is even a visitor center and a car park that holds annual open days that includes guided walks, skittle alley, refreshments, pole lathe demonstration and face painting in order to raise consciousness for this park.

Kelsey Park

Kelsey Park is one of the biggest parks located the town of Beckenham in the borough of Bromley in South London. There is a memorial tree which is planted on October 1007 in this park and is dedicated to Ben Hitchcock who was killed on 23rd June 2007. There is a college in Beckenham which is usually named after the Kelsey Park.

Croydon Road Recreation Ground

Croydon Road Recreation Ground is said to be a public park situated in Beckenham in the borough of Bromley. This public park is just adjacent to one of the famous Beckenham Hospital and features a bandstand, a bowling green, café and few other facilities. In the year 1902, a first airmail flight of UK left from this park and traveled to Calais by a Hot Air Balloon.

Chinese Garage

Chinese Garage Building is a garage and was previously used to be a petrol station. This garage is located just close by to the Kelsey Park in the borough of Bromley. Designed by Edmund Clarke and built in 1928, this Chinese Garage building is in fact in the Japanese Pagoda style. This garage received the award for one of the best petrol stations in the year 1939 which was organized by Daily Express.

How do I go about getting or renting a trailer to live in?

I really don't have or want to spend much money on housing. I am an college student and I just wanna live in a trailer like trailer park folks do. Is it cheaper to rent or buy a used one or what? I just need a air conditioned corner to sleep. I'd sleep outside if it weren't for insects and animals.

Boeing Airplane Wood

The Navitimer wrist watch was launched by Breitling in 1952 and to this day has accumulated a worldwide following for both the newer and older models.

How did this particular model become so popular as to be worn by Raquel Welch as a skydiving spy in the film Fathom (1967) and by Sean Connery as James Bond in Thunderball (1965)? It all started in 1884 when Leon Breitling established a factory in the watchmaking town of Saint-Imier in the Swiss Jura mountains. Breitling at the time had the intention of turning out timepieces that would be equipped to perform functions well beyond merely imparting the time of day. To start with, he made pocket chronographs - event stopwatches for all kinds of occasions - and they were robust in their manufacture.

As World War I broke out Leon's son Gaston took over the running of the company. To meet wartime requirements, Breitling manufactured wristwatches with luminous dials and hands, and a chronograph mechanism. After Gaston's death, it wasn't until 1932 that his son Willy assumed control over the company. Not long after, Willy was overseeing the production of over forty chronograph models, as well as the first one with two buttons. By this time Breitling had identified the aviation industry as a major growth area. This notion was correct as it was confirmed with a large contract from Britain's Royal Air Force in 1936 for the supply of chronographs and cockpit clocks.

In 1952 when Breitling launched its Navitimer model, it was quickly adopted by the international Aircraft Owners' and Pilots' Association as its official timepiece. The Navitimer was favored for its chronograph timing in hours, minutes, and seconds, and also a slide rule around the outside of the face. This consisted of a mobile outer scale, engraved with numeric scales, actioned by rotating the bezel, for use with a fixed scale marked around the rim. Such a feature allowed pilots to make in-flight calculations to gauge how much fuel remained in relation to miles already travelled, or at what speed, related to the total journey time, the plane should be flying.

During this period in the 1950s, Breitling was also supplying cockpit clocks to aeroplane manufacturers such as Boeing, Douglas and Lockheed. At this time, the first civilian jet aircraft (De Havilland Comet) flew from London to Johannesburg with a Breitling clock on board for guidance.

Eventually, Breitling created a spacegoing version of the Navitimer, the Cosmonaute, which featured 24-hour markers because notions of day and night off the Earth were meaningless. This particular model was used by astronaut Scott Carpenter.

In 1969 Breitling released the first-ever automatic chronograph (the Calibre II, renamed to Calibre 12). This chronograph was the inspiration for the Navitimer Chrono-Matic. In 1976 an LED version of the Navitimer appeared, and this was eventually followed by an LCD model. Both are now collector's pieces.

Nhl Playoff Tickets - 2010 Nhl Season May Be Last For Some Stars

The regular season for the National Hockey League is wrapping up, meaning that just about all the spots for the playoff games are decided. The Eastern Conference is led by the Washington Capitals, followed by the New Jersey Devils, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators. The Western Conference has the Chicago Blackhawks on top, with the San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks, Phoenix Coyotes, Detroit Red Wings, Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche behind them. The postseason is heating up, and fans can find <a href="http://www.stubhub.com/nhl-playoff-tickets/">NHL playoff tickets</a> at <a href="http://www.stubhub.com/">StubHub.com</a>.

For the teams who don't make the playoffs, the most veteran players start toying with the decision to come back or retire. On Wed., April 4, it was the St. Louis Blues left wing Keith Tkachuk who announced the 2009-10 season would be his last. He has more than put in his time in the league, finishing with 19 seasons under his belt. In 66 games this season, he scored 13 goals and 17 assists. He has also played with the Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes and the Atlanta Thrashers. At the announcement, Tkachuk talked to the press, where he cited his health as a reason to step away. Along with his time in the NHL, Tkachuk has also played in multiple Olympics and has won a silver medal for his efforts.

Dallas Stars center Mike Modano isn't quite as decided as Tkachuk, but he could potentially also be retiring following the 2009-10 season. He told reporters he was contemplating retiring, and a decision will likely come from him after the season ends. Leaving the Stars would be harder on Modano than most, as he has spent his entire career with the franchise, dating back to when they were the Minnesota North Stars. He joined the North Stars when he was the first overall selection of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. In 57 games this season, he had 13 goals and 15 assists. Like Tkachuk, he has also made appearances in multiple Olympic Winter Games.

The Anaheim Ducks could have a big hole next season if right wing Teemu Selanne decides to retire. The 39-year-old star is still going strong, making him a little less likely to retire than other veterans. He has won a Stanley Cup Championship with the Ducks, meaning he doesn't have many milestones left to accomplish. This season, he scored 26 goals and 21 assists in 53 games. He has also played for the Winnipeg Jets, San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche.

Players aren't the only ones retiring after this season. The Pittsburgh Penguins' longtime home, Mellon Arena, will also retire following the 2009-10 season. Affectionately called "The Igloo" by fans, Mellon Arena has been a landmark of the NHL scene, but it also grew more dilapidated over the years.  The Penguins will move into the Consol Energy Center next season. On the Penguins' website, star Sidney Crosby expressed his feelings on The Igloo and said, "When I got here I found out pretty quickly that this arena has an amazing feel. It's an atmosphere you have to be at to really describe. The crowd feels like it is really on top of you they are so involved in the game. It's a really fun building to play in."

Answer:
Through your Compressor inlet.
Water vapor (humidity-moisture) enters the air system through the air compressor inlet air filter.
The air compressor sucks in approximately 7 cubic feet of atmospheric air at 0 psig, and that
volume of air is compressed into 1 cubic feet of air at 100 psig. The water vapor (humidity-moisture) that was in the 7 cubic feet of atmospheric air is now compressed into 1 cubic feet of compressed air.

There are 3 forms of water in compressed air:
Liquid water
Aerosol (mist)
Vapor (gas)
Any of these forms of moisture can create problems down the road in equipment or may create serious problems in your process or end product today.

How does a Refrigerated Air Dryer Work?

Answer:

• The refrigerated air dryer cools the incoming compressed air first in an air-to-air heat exchanger where the outgoing cool dry air pre-cools the hot incoming air and condenses some moisture out.

• Then the incoming air enters an air-to-refrigerant heat exchanger where the air is cooled to 38º F by the liquid refrigerant. This process causes the moisture to condense into liquid water and it is drained away. The out going air then enters the air-to-air heat exchanger and is warmed up to keep the outside of pipes from sweating.

• The refrigeration compressor pumps hot hi-pressure gas refrigerant (Freon) into the condenser which transfers the heat from the refrigerant gas to the ambient air as the gas condenses into a liquid.

• The liquid refrigerant (Freon) is then metered to a cold low pressure where it enters the air-to-refrigerant heat exchanger and the heat from the hot compressed air is adsorbed into the cold refrigerant (Freon). The refrigeration compressor then sucks low pressure hot gas refrigerant (Freon) into the refrigeration compressor and the cycle starts over again.

BOTTOM LINE:

Can anyone tell me when the air show is at Point Mugu this year?

I think it's officially called Naval Base Ventura County now, but last March I went to the annual air show there and it was incredible. I really want to go again this year and I hope I didn't miss is since we're approaching April. I couldn't find a website for this year's show like I did for last year's. Is it not going on anymore? Thanks.

Where did the word Blimp come from?

I have been told that when the military started using blimps. The first test inflatable flying structure was called A-Limp and that model failed to reach qualification standereds. So the next one was called B-Limp and it passed and thats where the name came from. I was wondering if this was true?

This term for a non-rigid airship is of uncertain origin. We do know that it was coined during the First World War, but who coined it and why the rather enigmatic term blimp was chosen may never be known. Making matters worse, the various origin stories are often conflated in various sources, making sorting out the truth difficult.

First, the earliest known use of the term dates to February 1916, from Rosher's In R.N.A.S.:

Visited the Blimps . . . this afternoon at Capel.

The most popular explanation seems to be that blimp is from a classification system for airships, Class-A Rigid and Class-B Limp. The problem with this explanation is that this alleged classification system is found nowhere except in explanations of the origin of blimp and the word limp was not applied to lighter-than-air craft during WWI.

More likely, the name is a humorous appellation of the sound made when one strikes the airship's gas bag. There is even a very specific origin story associated with this. Supposedly, in December 1915 Lieutenant A.D. Cunningham, the commander of the Royal Naval Air Service station at Capel, Surrey did just this and muttered "blimp" in imitation of the sound. The officers and men present were amused and the term caught on as the name for the airships.

The Illustrated London News printed the onomatopoeic explanation in July of 1918, although it credits aviator Horace Shortt, not Cunningham, with the coinage:

Nobody in the R.N.A.S. ever called them anything but ‘Blimps’, an onomatopoeic name invented by that genius for apposite nomenclature, the late Horace Shortt.

Whether it was Cunningham or Shortt is a question.

Complicating matters further is that one of the citations in the OED gives yet another explanation. This normally could be dismissed, except for its source. In 1926, J.R.R. Tolkien offered this speculation (remember he was a distinguished Oxford linguist and staff member of the OED who only wrote fantasy stories in his spare time):

It is perhaps more in accordance with their looks, history, and the way in which words are built out of the suggestions of others in the mind, if we guess that blimp was the progeny of blister + lump, and that the vowel i not u was chosen because of its diminutive significance–typical of war-humour.
