Rocket Wood
When you invest money in a quality guitar the last thing you want to do is to not take care of it. Guitars are sensitive and require attention even if you only play it once in a while. With acoustic guitars especially, the delicate wood can be damaged if not taken care of properly. Although electric guitars are sturdier they still need to be handled with caution. The first tip of caring for your guitar is to obviously never drop it or bang it around in any way. You should also be careful about where you put it in your home and who can use it.
The second and probably the most important tip in caring for your guitar is to monitor the humidity that it is in. Humidity can be one of the worst enemies of the guitar. Excessive humidity such as what is found in summertime or in rainy climates can swell the wood of the guitar and cause bowing which will render your guitar ineffective. If there is not enough humidity such as in the desert dryness, the wood can dry out and the glue can crack which hold the seams together. The ideal climate is one that is 50% humid, so it is important that the guitar is kept in a hard case, never left in the car for long periods of time, and reduce the air exposure as much as possible. If they are left on display in certain rooms you should keep a humidifier or dehumidifier in the room to keep it at a constant level.
The best place to display any guitar is on a guitar stand. This supports the guitar by the neck and prevents uneven pressure which can cause the wood to bow as well. Not to mention it just looks better on a stand and makes it easier to play but even still, it helps extend the life of a guitar. In the case of an electric guitar you never want to leave the amp on while the guitar is in the stand. The sound, even if inaudible to you, can cause the strings to vibrate which causes the pickups to send a signal to the amp which sends even more sound to the strings. Over time both your amp and guitar will be completely fried and unusable.
You should plan on cleaning the guitar each time you use it. The oils and sweat that builds up on your hands can leave deposits on the wood and the strings which can lead to corrosion and damage to both the strings and the glossy finish of the guitar. You should use only a soft cloth to wipe down the neck and the body and then you can use an alcohol swab for the strings. Never get alcohol on the body which can eat through the finish. The best products can be found at the guitar store because they are specially made for guitars. Never under any circumstances wash your guitar.
Lastly, make sure to keep your guitar in tip top shape by taking it in for regular repairs and adjustments. This is important for the life of the guitar as well as for the sound.

my son is in cub scouts and we are having a rocket derby. kinda like the pinewood derby you have to build your rocket, out of wood, then you can paint it and put a design on it.
That's were we need some help, what is something we can paint on a black rocket, a cool easy design if anybody knows one. remeber these are young boys nothing obscene please
